Helpfile
Level: 8 Skill: influence Syntax: witness <target> Cost: 10 Paladins are committed to doing acts of good, even if there is no reward for themselves. With this power, a paladin can attempt to convince any non-player to follow a more righteous path. A creature can only be witnessed to once, further attempts to sway them will have no effect.
Commentary
While there are some roleplay uses for witness, there is a practical application as well. Some equipment (example, shield of artrimas with the blue background, or platemail of artrimas with the blue background) will "disappear" if they are worn by a neutral or evil mob when they are slain. So, if you saw platemail of artrimas (with the blue background) on a neutral smuggler you could attempt to sway him to a more righteous path before defeating him in the hopes it would allow you to put his holy armor to a better use in the paladin vaults.
You only get one chance to witness to a monster but if you fail, you can always ask a bard for help.
