A favorite contest among students of earth lore is to use their control over the earth and stone to create gems and other valuable stones. While the rituals of gem crafting are a closely guarded secret, this rite will at least allow one to transmute one stone to a different, hopefully, more useful one. If the caster is especially talented, other items may be crafted as well.
