The fighters are not only trained to be lethal when on the offense, but also to be very effective at defending themselves. The block feat is proof of this ability, and allows the fighter to use his or her shield to defend against attacks. The effectiveness of this defensive feat depends on the fighter's skill with shields.

Block prevents a straight percentage of damage from reaching the fighter. As a defensive skill, block is more effective than parry, though since a shield is used, an offhand weapon cannot be.
