A major aspect of the druidic lifestyle is a deep, sacred respect for nature, and a willingness to assist natural processes where needed. By planting seeds in appropriate terrains, a druid will be able to grow a variety of plants, some harvestable, and others growing into trees which may bear fruit. To harvest produce from cultivated plants, use the 'pick' syntax; to uproot something already planted, use the 'cultivate uproot' syntax.

Seeds for common plants may be found for sale at the nursery within the guild.

Commentary

Seeds and spores may be planted in the druid's personal grove upon reaching guild level 10 or in the Druid Communal Grove at guild level 2 and above. The Druid Communal Grove is significantly larger than the druid's personal grove. There are also several seeds available elsewhere in the game, most of which produce food.

Apple trees, blueberry bushes, mistletoe plants, rice stands and wheat stalks may be planted and the time required to grow each varies depending on what is planted. Apple trees take the longest to grow and take eight game days or one real life day to fully mature to fruit-bearing status.

The Druidic Nursery, in addition to seeds and spores, sells recipes for various foods which can be cooked using the stove at the nursery and the pot sold at the nursery. The very same items a druid can cultivate are the ingredients necessary to cook these dishes. The nutritional value of these dishes is greater, and generally less filling (you can eat more of it before becoming full), than that of the sum of their ingredients. There is at least one more recipe that can be performed; these recipes do not require a recipe paper, just the ingredients. Some are quite useful.

It should be noted that the glow-cap mushroom is a never-ending light source and you can "light" and "unlight" it. The glow-cap mushroom is also considered a "food" item and can be eaten however it will inflict the eater with a poison which, when tested by consumption by a level 36 elf druid, inflicted 10 damage every 10 seconds.

The black-cap mushroom, like the glow-cap, is considered a "food" item and has negative side effects. The eater, for a period of several minutes, will be inflicted with various status ailments such as paralysis, blindness, muteness, terror, etc.

With higher earthshaping skill the plantings of the druid become more plentiful, for example an apple tree may produce 6 apples instead of 4 and more wheat may grow on a stalk. With higher earthshaping skill the plantings are less likely to wither and die and will live to produce for much longer.

Cultivation can be performed instantly.
