Your choice of race in Astaria determines three things:

* Your [[Statistics|stats]]. These determine how well your character performs in the game.

* Your appearance. While this is optional, each race has a specific subset of bodily areas to customize the looks of. It is optional in that you do not need to complete this step to start playing the game, but also because using the setlook command will override what people see when they look at you.

* Finally, it determines what racial ability you have. Some of these abilities are "passive," they are always on and always doing something, while others are "active," requiring you to type in a command to use. Some are directly related to combat, some do not involve combat at all.

Guide to Playable Races in the Realm

Your choice of race is one of the first decisions in creating a character in Astaria. Each race offers a different combination of starting statistics, appearance options, and unique racial abilities.


Your choice of race determines three things:

  • Starting Statistics. Your stats influence how your character performs throughout the game.
  • Appearance. Each race has its own set of visual customization options. Appearance is optional, but players may use the setlook command to customize what others see when looking at their character.
  • Racial Abilities. Every race possesses a unique racial ability. Some are passive and always active, while others are active and require a command to use. These abilities may influence combat, exploration, roleplaying, or other aspects of life in Astaria.
